After graduating from Texas Christian University with a
Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting in
1987, Keith D. Lair, CPA, embarked upon a career in public
accounting by joining Arthur Andersen & Co. in Dallas,
Texas. It was in those early years that he learned something
critically important about being a professional in the service
business that has become the cornerstone of his career –
serve your clients well. He found out in his first days in
the business that the accounting professional has an obligation
and a duty not only to respond quickly to the needs of clients,
but also to provide them with a final product that is both
high quality and technically accurate. He learned that clients
expect, and rightly so, a professional to be available, accessible
and dependable. He learned early on to serve his clients well.
In 1995, Keith joined the Family Legacy group of companies
and in 1997 became the President of Family Legacy Administration
Services, Inc., a national provider of charitable trust and
private foundation administration services. While in that
role, Keith had the responsibility of running the day-to-day
operations of the business, marketing and growing the firm,
working with hundreds of clients and professional advisors
all over the country, not to mention doing a few charitable
trust and private foundation tax returns along the way. During
that time, he prepared or supervised the preparation of over
2,000 such charitable returns.
Over the course of his career, Keith has provided hundreds
of financial and legal advisors throughout the country with
invaluable tax advice related to charitable tax cases and
is highly sought after in providing tax counsel in the charitable
giving arena. He has successfully represented numerous clients
before the IRS and has significant experience in assisting
clients resolve tax disputes with various taxing authorities.
He has been a popular and frequent speaker around the country
to various educational and professional groups on a variety
of charitable tax topics. He is also a member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society
of Certified Public Accountants.
In 2004, Keith left Family Legacy and in 2005 launched Lair
Administration Services, LLC. Why did he decide, at that point
in his career, to start all over again? Simply stated –
to serve his clients well. By engaging a third-party administration
firm, a trustee or board member is putting their utmost in
trust and confidence in that firm. When they hold a report
or tax return in their hand, they want to know that the information
in those pages has been accounted for by a professional CPA,
someone experienced in charitable trust and private foundation
accounting. They want to know that the behind the scenes accounting
and tax work has not been performed haphazardly or by someone
who does not have the requisite education, training and experience.
At Lair Administration Services, LLC we understand and concur
with those expectations. Therefore, we do not cut corners.
All of our clients’ accounting and tax compliance work

who have experience, not only in the accounting profession
but specifically in the charitable accounting field. As a
